FAQ

Does HTPBE? verify someone's identity, or that a document is valid against the issuer?

No. HTPBE? verifies one thing only: whether the file was edited or forged after it was issued. It does not confirm a person’s identity, it does not check a document against the issuing authority’s records, and it does not judge whether the content is true.

What HTPBE? does not do

  • Match a face or a person to an identity document.
  • Look a document up in an issuer’s registry, or call the issuer.
  • Read amounts, names, dates or clauses, or decide that any of them is correct.

Who does those jobs

  • Identity — “is this really them” — belongs to KYC and identity-verification platforms such as Persona or Onfido.
  • Record confirmation — whether the issuer really issued this belongs to the issuer’s own portal, registrar or help desk.
  • Content — whether the figures are right belongs to a reviewer, or to data you can confirm independently.

What HTPBE? adds

HTPBE? is the structural file-integrity layer that runs alongside those checks. It returns Intact, Modified or Inconclusive with named findings, and it is tamper detection, not a verification platform. A typical flow:

  1. The person goes through identity verification.
  2. Each supporting PDF goes through a file-integrity check.
  3. Anything flagged goes to a human, and anything important is confirmed with the issuer.

Every API result carries a usage_caution field that reminds the integrator that a structural verdict describes the file and not the person. How HTPBE? differs from KYC platforms →

KYC platforms confirm who a person is. HTPBE? checks whether a specific PDF file was modified after it was generated. An identity can be real while a supporting document has been edited, so the two checks complement each other.
